Get Local London Working!

In London, almost half of the working-age population faces unemployment or economic inactivity. The situation is even more pronounced in Local London, where the numbers are higher. The Get Britain Working White Paper introduces key reforms aimed at reducing economic inactivity and achieving an 80% employment rate. The plans are backed by £240 million investment, targeting several critical areas. One major focus is on individuals excluded from the labour market, particularly those with health conditions, caregiving responsibilities, or lower skill levels. The reforms aim to create pathways for these individuals to engage in the workforce effectively. Additionally, the white paper emphasizes the importance of equipping young people with essential skills. Many leave school without the necessary tools or access to quality further learning opportunities, apprenticeships, or work support systems. By addressing these gaps, the reforms strive to help young individuals thrive as they embark on their careers.

The policy's comprehensive approach seeks to create a more inclusive labour market, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to contribute to the economy. By enhancing skill development and providing necessary support, it aims to empower individuals to overcome barriers and achieve sustainable employment.

The aim for Your Life Your Story

24 December 2024

The aim for Your Life Your Story [YLSY] is to amplify the power of the collective voice through mutually rewarding relationships - we are Stronger Together. It is about improving the system for children in care and the adults they become. Childhood trauma does not leave you at 18, 25 or even 65 it is a lifetime struggle for too many. It is about how the 'system' shapes the care children receive and the value of the shared story - care is not one dimensional. When talking to care experienced adults who have lived a life beyond care there is more that connects us than divides us. It is all about helping the members of the community to tell their story.... their way.
