Communication and Campaigns Officer

Full time (36 hrs p/week)

Do you love creating content for digital and print? Do you want to tell the story of London’s fastest growing boroughs, our needs and opportunities and what this means for the people and businesses here?

We’re looking for a creative and enthusiastic individual to join our small, busy communications team. At Local London, we work with and on behalf of nine London boroughs in east London, north and south of the river. We recently published our Vision for Growth – developed alongside our nine councils, this is our blueprint for unlocking inclusive, sustainable growth across the sub-region. Now is an exciting time to join us as we drive forward the ambitions in our Vision.

This is a new role where you will be able flex your broad communication skills and take ownership of projects to help us tell our story. Sounds good?

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting communication of our Vision, programmes, policies, stakeholder offers and asks, and ensuring key audiences are informed and engaged with this work.
  • Developing, taking ownership of and driving forward imaginative communications activities and campaigns to promote initiatives and services within a growing and politically-complex public sector organisation.
  • Delivering day-to-day social media activity and digital communications for Local London with tactical, hands-on knowledge of how to generate high levels of engagement in support of sub-regional and member plans and activities.
  • Commissioning suppliers, supporting communications budget management.
  • Acting as a brand ambassador for Local London and understanding our programmes and workstreams’ requirements.

What we’re looking for:

  • Knowledge and experience of creating, delivering and evaluating successful content and campaigns across a broad communications mix.
  • Excellent proof reading, formatting and editing skills.
  • Ability to work to deadlines, work across multiple projects and prioritise based on changing demands.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills relevant to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of liaising and working effectively with colleagues across different teams and partner organisations.
  • Proficient level of IT competence including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint with a willingness to develop skills further.
  • Experience and understanding of working in local government/political environment, appreciated but not essential.
  • Someone comfortable working in a remote team, with some travel in and around London.
