Who are we?

Deaf Progress is a Deaf-led organisation committed to empowering Deaf and hard-of-hearing people by breaking down the communication barriers they face in everyday life. Our mission is to promote equality, independence, and full access to services, education, employment, and community spaces. We deliver high-quality British Sign Language interpreting, Deaf awareness training, BSL courses, and accessibility support, working in partnership with individuals, businesses, and public services to create inclusive environments where Deaf people can thrive

What do we do / What is our impact / Who do we support?

Deaf Progress is a Deaf-led organisation dedicated to breaking down communication barriers and advancing equality for Deaf and hard-of-hearing people. We provide professional British Sign Language (BSL) interpreting, both on site and remotely, across workplaces, education, healthcare, legal settings, public services, and community events. Alongside interpreting, we deliver Deaf awareness training, BSL courses, and accessibility consultancy so organisations communicate with respect and Deaf people can participate independently. Our impact is for Deaf individuals first, enabling safe access to services, learning, jobs, and justice, and it also benefits families and employers by reducing reliance on informal interpreting and improving inclusion. We support Deaf BSL users, Deaf professionals and students, and partner with businesses, local authorities, schools, hospitals, and event organisers to make access routine rather than exceptional.

Who do we want to connect with?

Deaf Progress would like to connect with partner services that can strengthen Deaf people’s access and help us deliver safe, joined-up support. This includes NHS and mental-health providers, social care teams, safeguarding services, housing and benefits agencies, police and legal advocacy services, schools/colleges/universities and SEND departments, and employers or job-support programmes. We also want links with other Deaf and disability organisations, community hubs, and charities for referrals and shared projects. Finally, we welcome relationships with interpreting agencies, freelancer interpreters, Deaf trainers, and funders or sponsors who align with Deaf-led inclusion. These connections ensure Deaf people receive consistent support across every part of life.

Why / What is our ask?

Deaf Progress needs strong support, resources, and connections to keep Deaf access consistent and high-quality. We need reliable funding and contracts to sustain BSL interpreting, training, and advocacy; wider networks of qualified interpreters and Deaf trainers; and partnerships with NHS/mental-health services, social care, safeguarding teams, housing and benefits agencies, education providers, employers, and legal/justice services so referrals are fast and seamless. We also need links with Deaf and disability organisations, community groups, and event organisers to co-design accessible spaces, plus technology and admin support for efficient booking and remote access. Public allies, mentors, and volunteers help us reach more Deaf people and grow community trust

How to get involved / Who to contact

Deaf Progress welcomes support and collaboration from organisations and partners who want to improve access and inclusion for Deaf people. You can engage with us by: booking our BSL interpreters for workplace, health, legal, education or community settings; commissioning Deaf awareness or inclusion training for your teams; partnering with us to make services and events fully accessible; referring Deaf clients, staff or students who need communication support; or sponsoring/funding projects that expand Deaf access and employment opportunities. We are also open to joint outreach, co-designed programmes, and long-term service partnerships to embed accessibility as standard practice.
